Dr. Li-Shan Hung | Biola University
An active soloist and chamber musician, Dr. Li-Shan Hung has appeared in major venues worldwide, including Salle Gaveau in Paris, Rachmaninoff Hall in Moscow, the Shriver Hall Concert Series in Baltimore, the Orpheus Classical Music Series in Chicago, Sejong Cultural Arts Center in Seoul, and the National Concert Hall in Taipei.
She has also performed with orchestras including the Taipei Symphony Orchestra, Stockton Symphony, MasterWorks Festival Orchestra, Palo Alto Philharmonic, Sheboygan Symphony, and Hunan Symphony Orchestra in China.
Dr. Hung earned her Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees from the Peabody Conservatory, where she studied with Ann Schein. During the summer, she serves as artist faculty at both the MasterWorks Festival in Virginia and the Cremona International Music Academy in Italy.
Jimmy Emerzian | CSU Long Beach
As a professional educator, Jimmy Emerzian has taught from the elementary through collegiate level and has maintained a private lesson studio working with children and adults for many years.
Previously Jazz Director at Bullard High School in Fresno, Jimmy currently teaches courses in jazz improvisation, theory, arranging, and jazz combos at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at CSU Long Beach, where he also received a Master's Degree in Music (Jazz Studies).
Jimmy earned his B.A. in Music (Jazz Studies) from UCLA and his A.A. from Fresno City College. He has studied with Gary Foster, Billy Higgins, Harold Land, Kenny Burrell, Tom Ranier, Bobby Rodriguez, Jeff Clayton, Jeff Jarvis, Sal Lozano, Bill Liston, Mike Dana, Paul Shaghoian, Mark Ribera, and Larry Honda.
Dr. Hesam Abedini | CSU Fullerton
Educated at the Tehran Music Conservatory, the Yerevan State Conservatory, UC San Diego (B.A.), and UC Irvine (Ph.D. in Integrated Composition, Improvisation, and Technology), Dr. Hesam Abedini studied with Lei Liang, Chinary Ung, Anthony Davis, Mark Dresser, Christopher Dobrian, Michael Dessen, Kojiro Umezaki, and Hossein Omoumi.
He has taught at UC Irvine, Saddleback College, Soka University of America, and Butte College. In 2025, he joined the School of Music at California State University, Fullerton as Assistant Professor of Composition–Music Theory, where he also serves as Assistant Director of the CSUF New Music Series.
