Student Commercial Music Composition Competition 2022

1st place ($200) and 2nd place ($100) scholarships will be awarded, with possible Honorable Mentions.

Contest Criteria

• Student must be currently enrolled in a California Community College
• Original song compositions may be of any popular style or genre (Note: Remixes will not be accepted.)
  
• Must be written, produced, recorded, and mixed by the student
• Songs can be any combination of recorded instruments, vocals, and/or MIDI/virtual instruments
• Length should be 2:30-5:00 minutes
• Must be an original work written within last 2 years
• Any DAW can be used
• Student must have a supporting MACCC member
• $20 entry fee
• Must contain lyrics using poetry or prose style that are written by the student

Judging will be based on creativity, composition/arrangement, lyric content, phrasing, mixing, and adherence to contest criteria. After submission period, judges will choose 5 finalists to participate in a masterclass/critiquing session at MACCC Conference 2022.
